Our Story

At Appalachian Fishing Company, we believe that fishing brings people together. Our story began with a shared love for the sport and a desire to create a welcoming space for everyone. Appalachian Fishing Company started off as an idea when tying some flies getting ready for a trip. After guiding for a few years and being a current  student at Lees McRae College in the Outdoor Recreation Management Program. I wanted to provide a unique and educational experience. While taking a Risk Management course I wanted to make a safer and better experience and use what I have learned and provide a once in a lifetime experience for my clients. 

Appalachian Mountain Fishery

Fly fishing in the Appalachian Mountains is a classic and peaceful experience. The Appalachian region is full of wild trout streams, scenic backdrops, and cozy towns.


Types of fish:

  • Wild Brook Trout: Especially in headwater streams and higher elevations.
  • Brown and Rainbow Trout: Found in lower elevation streams or stocked areas.
  • Smallmouth Bass: In warmer, lower rivers.
     

What to bring:

  • 3 to 5 wt rod 
  • Waders (unless you're wet wading)
  • Dry flies (Adams, Elk Hair Caddis), nymphs, and streamers
  • Polarized Su
